MSWIM Log Solid Performance in Exhibition

The Seattle U men's swim team capped its winter training in Southern California on Friday with an exhibition head-to-head meet against Air Force. The event was hosted by San Diego State at the Aztec Aquaplex.

SAN DEIGO, Calif. — The Seattle U men's swim team capped its winter training in Southern California on Friday with an exhibition head-to-head meet against Air Force. The event was hosted by San Diego State at the Aztec Aquaplex.

Greg Raper began the day for the Redhawks with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 20.78. Justin Kalugin also notched a second-place finish with a time of 4:47.25 in the 500 freestyle.

Tyler Goodspeed also had a notable day as he took second in the 100 IM with a time of 53.38. Goodspeed's finished just .27-seconds off the first-place pace, however his was the best-time by a Redhawk this season as he surpassed the previous mark of 53.39 held by Jack Neton. Will Corona swam the 100 IM, coming in third with a time of 53.62.

In the 200 breaststroke event, Neton and Corona took second and third respectively. Neton checked in at 2:10.42 while Corona posted a time of 2:11.74. 

In the 200 backstroke, Ryan Shaw registered a third-place finish for the Redhawks as he clocked in at 1:56.77, .33 seconds shy of the second-place time.

The Redhawks closed the day with a second-place finish as the team of Raper, Isaac Parker, Goodspeed and Connor Barringer logged a time of 1:25.07, .64-seconds off the first-place pace.

Following the holiday break, Seattle U will resume regular season action on January 11 when it hosts Whitworth University at the Redhawk Center. Events for that day are slated for begin at 1:00 pm.
