SEATTLE – Seattle University softball has announced the signing of Brooke Jordan and Virginia Nemeth for the Class of 2020. Coach Geoff Hirai, entering his fifth season at SU in 2020, is coming off the best season in program history last year.
Jordan is a senior at Archbishop Murphy High in Everett, Washington. She will be a four-year starter and has served as a team captain for two years. Jordan earned First Team all-state (2A), First Team All-Wesco (2A), and First Team all-area in 2019 after batting .659 for the season. As a member of Washington Ladyhawks for three years, Jordan has helped her team advance to the 2018 PGF Nationals and win the 2018 Triple Crown World Series.
"Brooke is a local Washington player that is versatile as a defender and a pure hitter from the left side,” said Hirai. “We cannot wait to see her in the red and black competing for a starting spot next year."
Nemeth is a senior at Glendora High (California). She has played with OC Batbusters for two eyars on the club circuit. Nemeth claimed Palomares League MVP, all-state honors, and All-CIF recognition in 2019. At Glendora, she has 19 career home runs go with a .345 batting average.
"Virginia will bring a lot to our team next year,” said Hirai. “Her versatility in where she can play, either at first base or outfield. She will also bring power with her bat and her arm strength. We look for her to step in a compete for starting spot next year."
In 2019, Seattle U won a school-record 40 games on its way to its first Division I NCAA Tournament appearance. The Redhawks won the WAC regular-season and tournament titles for the first time in program history.
