SEATTLE — On Friday, Nov. 1, the Seattle University baseball team, in conjunction with the SU Student-Athletic Advisory Committee, will be holding its annual charity game with all proceeds benefiting the Seattle Children’s Hospital. First pitch from Logan Field at SU Park is slated for 6:30 pm and is open to the public.
“I’ve been here for four seasons and this has been a great tradition and fun event to be apart of,” said Seattle U baseball captain Blaine Wagner. “This isn’t just a baseball event but more of a Seattle U student-athlete event, and this year we’re hoping to include more of the SU community with different games and activities.”
Friday’s events will include a costume contest, home run derby and carnival games with prizes available. The evening’s festivities will be highlighted by the Redhawk baseball team playing a shortened inter-squad scrimmage in costumes. All events, with the exception of the inter-squad game, are open to the Seattle U community and general public.
Fans who attend are encouraged to make cash donations to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital either upon entering or prior to participating in such events as home run derby or the carnival games.
“This kind of event really emphasizes the type of community we’re apart of,” Wagner said. “Not a lot of schools across the country do something like this, so to be able to help children and to do it with the Seattle U community is a win-win. Personally it makes me really proud to be a Redhawk.”
