EUGENE, Ore. – Seattle University women's rowing sent both its Novice 8+ and Varsity 4+ boats to the Grand Finals Saturday at the Covered Bridge Regatta in Eugene, Ore., ultimately earning a runner-up finish in the Novice 8+.
The Redhawks' Novice 8+ finished second in their heat in 7:37.990, then took second in the Grand Final, lowering their time to 7:32.650. The Varsity 4+ took third in their heat in Seattle U, 8:16.310, to advance to the Grand Final, then placed fourth in 8:23.930.
"We had very conditions this morning for the heats, but handled them well, advancing both boats to the Grand Finals," said Head Coach Jenny Park. "We had great racing in the finals. I'm very happy with the second-place finish for the novices and a solid race from the Varsity 4."
The Redhawks face off against Saint Mary's and Portland next Saturday in a tri-meet in Vancouver, Wash.
