SEATTLE – More than 380 attendees contributed to Seattle University baseball raising $125,000 at the 10th Annual Meet the Redhawks event on Jan. 25 at the Seattle Waterfront Marriott. All proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefits the Redhawk program and its student-athletes.

"We had yet another great night to get our student-athletes ready for the baseball season," said Seattle U Head Coach Donny Harrel. "Todd Linden, our VIP guest, was excellent with our donors and once again Dan Wilson did a tremendous job setting the stage for Opening Day. Having a Seattle U baseball alum in Brian DiJulio is always great for the reflection of where this program once was and where it is today. Jake Prizina also did a wonderful job representing our current senior class."

In addition to appearances and speeches from Linden, Wilson, DiJulio and Prizina, a pair of special presentations were made. Roman Miller, '50, a Seattle U Athletics Hall of Fame member, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Gaye and Nick Scott were also honored with the MVP of the Year award for 2018.

GEICO Insurance served as the presenting sponsor of the 10th annual event, which also included dinner, silent auction and live auction.

"We are so thankful to all of our parents and families, as well as those who contributed to all of the great auction items," Harrel said. "The night raised money to continue to help us enhance our facilities and the overall student-athlete experience. We feel very blessed by those who contributed to the cause. Thank you all!"

The 2019 baseball season gets underway on February 15 as the Redhawks travel to Las Vegas for a three-game series at UNLV. Seattle U's home opener at Bannerwood Park is slated for February 22 (through February 24) against Omaha. Detailed schedule and ticket information can be found at goseattleu.com.
