SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s golf begins its season at the Coeur d’Alene Collegiate Invitational in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, from Sept. 24-25. This will be only the second year of the tournament’s existence. The Redhawks are excited to build upon their performance from last season, where they placed 17th overall at the Gonzaga University-hosted competition. This year's 16-team field includes nationally ranked golfers from Brigham Young, California, Colorado State, Florida International, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northern Arizona, San Jose State, UC Irvine, UNLV and Wichita State.

"Huge thanks to my good friend, (Gonzaga Head Coach) Brad Rickel, for having us at the Coeur d’Alene event in Idaho to kick off our year,” said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “It’s a fabulous facility and they will have a great field.”

This year’s team has seven returners: senior Yen Ting Wong, redshirt junior Linette Chua, and sophomores Nicole Foster, Vendela From, Keisha Lugito, Kimberlee Tottori and Anne Transier. They have just one newcomer in transfer junior Krystal Hu.

Chandonnet, for one, is excited to see how far this team can go. “With the addition of Krystal to what I already consider a very strong team, the Redhawk women will be a force this year in NCAA play. It’s a very impressive but young group that still has a little bit of maturing to do, competitively. Our players had some really strong finishes this summer, and they were focused on keeping their games sharp for the start of our season… after last year’s conference championship experience, this team is hungry and they believe they’ve got what it takes to win. To a coach, that’s exciting - you can feel the energy tied to the group’s motivations. We are working together cohesively to structure both individual and team-oriented habits that will prepare us for our moment.”

Last season, the Redhawks placed third in the Western Athletic Conference Championships, with From finishing third overall at the tournament. After the season, Tottori was named to the All-WAC Second Team.
