SEATTLE – The newly-released 2018 fall schedule for Seattle U women’s tennis promises to test the young and talented crew with three quality tournaments in the span of a month, including a destination that may bring nostalgia to longtime fans.

Seattle U begins its season with a long-awaited return to the Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash., from Sept. 21-23. The Washington State University-hosted event was a staple of the Redhawks’ schedule until 2014, after which they took a four-year hiatus from entering the tournament. Oct. 5-7 brings a visit to Spokane, Wash., for the Bulldog Invitational, followed by the International Tennis Association Regionals in Palo Alto, Calif., from Oct. 18-22.

Fourth-year Head Coach Adam Reeb is enthusiastic about the team’s prospects this season. “The fall season is an important time for us to focus on getting everyone’s individual game better, along with a lot of fitness training and match play,” he explained. “This is a great set of tournaments for our student-athletes to compete in.”

The Redhawks’ final roster includes five freshmen, with a total of seven underclassmen on the nine-woman squad. Sophomores Kyra Jung and Hannah Gianan shone for Seattle U in the 2017-18 season. Jung was named the WAC Freshman of the Year, also nabbing spots on the WAC All-Tournament Singles First Team and the WAC All-Tournament Doubles Second Team. Gianan received WAC Player of the Week honors for both singles and doubles, and joined Jung on the WAC All-Tournament Doubles Second Team.
