SEATTLE – November is known for the month of giving, and Seattle University baseball did just that this fall. In partnership with Food Lifeline, the Redhawks set out to donate 100 service hours and help provide 20,000 meals leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday.

All told, the team completed nearly 100 community service hours and provided nearly 30,000 meals to those in need across the state of Washington.

"Coach Greg Goetz has been doing an outstanding job with our charity work over the past two years," said Head Coach Donny Harrel. Our players truly take pride in giving back and have made a direct impact on our community. I am very proud of their commitment level and we look forward to continued volunteer work in the future."

Food Lifeline rescues millions of pounds of nutritious food from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers that would otherwise go to waste. 13,450 volunteers visit the Hunger Solution Center annually to help sort and repack this nourishing food. Food Lifeline then distributes it to more than 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs throughout Western Washington, providing the equivalent of 116,000 meals every day for hungry children, adults, and seniors.
