SEATTLE – Seattle University women’s soccer continued to add to its Class of 2019 with three signings on Thursday. Kate Connelly, Kendall Ingersoll, and Monique Nagel will join the Redhawks next year.

The trio joins Valentina Bernal, Kelsey Crosby, and Emily Hartson in SU's new class.

Connelly is a senior at Salpointe Catholic High in Tucson, Ariz. She earned second team all-region honors in 2017-18 and helped FC Tucson Youth Soccer Academy win the 2018 state title.

“Kate is completely dominant in the air, which we have missed since Rosalie Sittauer graduated (in 2017),” said Coach Julie Woodward. “She also moves very well for her height and has great technical ability. Kate has a high ceiling and we’re excited to help her realize her full potential.”

Ingersoll is a senior at Westview High in Beaverton, Ore. The midfielder played for FC Portland Academy ECNL, helping her club win the 2014 State Cup and the 2014 Chertanovo Cup, as her team became the first American team to play and win the Russian tournament. Ingersoll earned Best Striker honors at the event. In her high school career, Ingersoll has 28 goals and 27 assists and was Metro First Team as a senior.

“Kendall is such a good fit for our university,” said Woodward. “She is a smart, technical player with a fantastic left foot and anticipation. She will be a great representative of Seattle U.”

Nagel plays at Stadium High in Tacoma. She earned league MVP honors last year, averaging over a goal and an assist per game. As a junior, Stadium went undefeated in the regular season and advanced to the state finals. For Washington Premier ECNL, she has helped her club qualify for the national playoffs each year of her career.

“Mo is so fun to watch on the ball,” said Woodward. “We love wide players who can go 1v1 and Mo has the attitude and ability to beat players. She also connects a high percentage of her passes, which will help her compete for playing time immediately.”
