SEATTLE – Last season, Seattle University women’s swimming beat a Pac-12 opponent for the first time ever and established numerous all-time top performances. In 2018-19, the Redhawks will look to continue to rewrite the SU record books with a youthful roster.

Coach Craig Nisgor begins his eighth season at Seattle U. His latest edition features just two seniors, as freshmen and sophomore populate the majority of the roster. Sophomore Bryn Lasher leads the way after a standout freshman campaign that saw her set the school record in the 200 butterfly (2:03.94). Lasher also tallied the second-fastest 100 butterfly (55.58) time in SU history.

Allison Plamondon, another sophomore, posted four all-time top-10 performances last season. Returners Emily Bakewell, Sherlyn Devadason, Emily Gough, Darian Himes, Julia Gorman, Jayna Van Stone, and Jennifer Wong also put up top-10 showings in 2017-18. Plamondon, Wong, and Margaux Thompson are back after helping SU take bronze in the 200 freestyle relay at the WAC Championships last season.

Nisgor’s squad claimed a statement win last November, beating Oregon State, 143-116, at the Redhawk Center. The Redhawks went on to place fourth at the Husky Invite in December. At the 2018 WAC Championships, SU logged 20 all-time top-10 efforts, including three school records set by then-senior Paige Treff. For the season, 94 percent of the roster notched at least one lifetime-best performance.

This year, Seattle U will face a challenging slate of opponents in preparation for the 2019 WAC Championships. With a solid mix of veterans to go with a strong freshman class, the Redhawks will look to keep rising in the 2018-19.
