SEATTLE – Declan McGlynn of Seattle University men’s soccer has been selected for the United States U-19 Men’s National Team camp, taking place in Florida this weekend. McGlynn will train with the squad as they prepare for games against Jamaica and Venezuela.
“We’re thrilled for Declan and excited to see his progress, both with the U.S. team and here at Seattle U,” said SU Coach Pete Fewing.
McGlynn, a freshman midfielder, was a member of the U-19 team this summer when they competed in the 2018 Slovakia Cup, placing third in the tournament. He is one of four U.S. college players to be chosen for this tournament.
The native of Kirkland, Wash., has appeared in all three of SU’s games this season. He tallied an assist in the Redhawks’ 2-1 win over Cal Poly on Friday night.
McGlynn will miss this weekend’s games before returning for Seattle U’s trip to California next weekend. The U.S. squad will face Venezuela on Friday and Jamaica on Tuesday, Sept. 11. On Sunday, McGlynn and his U-19 side will face the US U-20 team.
SU hosts Akron on Friday, Sept. 7, and CSUN on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Championship Field.
