BELLEVUE, Wash. – (May 18) A late Redhawk rally fell short in game two of a three-game Western Athletic Conference series between Seattle U and Grand Canyon as the Lopes escaped with a 5-3 win Friday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.

The Lopes (32-22, 18-5 WAC) carried a 5-0 lead into the home half of the sixth. But the Redhawks (32-20, 13-10 WAC) finally caught a momentum swing, scoring three runs off of three hits.

But both bullpens did their jobs as the Redhawks managed just one hit over the final three frames and the Lopes stroked just two.

Jake Prizina (7-1) took his first loss of the season, giving up eight hits and one walk for five runs in six innings. He also struck out four.

Jake Rapavich earned the win for GCU, fanning five and scattering five hits for three runs in six innings. Mick Vorhof earned his sixth save after striking out two in a 1-2-3 ninth.

Justin Mazzone and Chase Wells had two hits each for Seattle U. Mazzone delivered a two-run homer over the right-field fence as part of the Redhawks' three-run sixth. Sean Sutton also had an RBI-single in the frame.

The three-game series concludes Saturday at 9 a.m. with Senior Day. The Redhawks' senior class of Lucas Denney, Austin Hansen, Dalton Hurd, Curtis Perrin, Jack Reisinger, Cameron Sterne, Sean Sutton and Ky Dye will be honored in a brief ceremony prior to the 9 a.m. first pitch.
