BELLEVUE, Wash. – (Apr. 27) In a back-and-forth game one of a three-game Western Athletic Conference series, Seattle University baseball dropped a 7-5 decision to CSU Bakersfield Friday night at Bannerwood Park.

Each team finished with 10 hits, but the Redhawks (27-12, 8-5, WAC) stranded 12 on base while also committing a trio of costly errors in the eighth as the Roadrunners (16-24, 6-7 WAC) plated the go-ahead runs.

Seattle U held a 4-3 lead through three complete and both teams went scoreless through the next three frames. CSUB scored a pair of runs in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead, but pinch hitter Jake Taylor drove an RBI single up the middle in the home half of the inning to even the score at 5-5.

But things unraveled in the field in the eighth as CSUB's first two batters reached on errors and Luis Martinez would then deliver a two-RBI single up the middle off of reliever Tyler Yeh.

Seattle U could then get nothing going offensively against the 'Runners' Andrew Ciandro in the final two innings.

Tarik Skubal struck out four, walked just one and scattered seven hits for five runs through seven innings in a no decision. Yeh (4-5) took the loss after giving up the two unearned runs in the eighth.

Sean Sutton went 3-for-5 with a solo home run. Curtis Perrin and Jack Reisinger had two hits apiece. Austin Lively had his 34-game on-base streak snapped after going an uncharacteristic 0-for-5.

The Redhawks and 'Runners continue play on Saturday with a 5 p.m. first pitch at Bannerwood Park.
