SEATTLE – (Apr. 26) Redhawk baseball resumes Western Athletic Conference play this week, hosting CSU Bakersfield in a three-game set beginning Friday, Apr. 27 at 5 p.m. at Bannerwood Park. The series will continue on Saturday with a 5 p.m. first pitch and conclude Sunday at noon. NEWS AND NOTES
- The Redhawks have won 14 of their last 16 games as they improve to 27-11 on the season. They also sit in fourth place with an 8-3 WAC record.
- A 4-3 come-from-behind win over Washington State on Wednesday gave the Redhawks a win over each of the other Division I Washington universities – Wazzu, Washington and Gonzaga – this season.
- In games through April 25, the Redhawks rank 11th in the nation with a .405 on-base percentage. They also rank 23rd in team batting average at .299.
- Sophomore Austin Lively is batting .368 and holds a 34-game on-base percentage. He is also second on the team in hits with 49, including nine doubles, one triple and one home run. Lively's on base percentage of .517 ranks first in the WAC and seventh in the nation.
- Dalton Hurd leads the team with 53 hits, including 13 doubles, one triple and seven homers. He also leads the team with 40 RBIs.
- The Redhawks have 104 total extra-base hits on the year, including 67 doubles, 12 triples and 25 home runs. Dalton Hurd has seven of those homers while Lucas Denney has four and Sean Sutton and Curtis Perrin have three each.
- Tarik Skubal leads the pitchign staff with a 6-0 record and 3.54 ERA. The junior lefty has 67 strikeouts in 48.1 innings while also holding opponents to a .174 batting average.
- Jake Prizina is 5-0, to go along with one save and a 3.78 ERA in 10 starts and 12 total appearances. The junior leads the pitching staff with 68 strikeouts while his 10 walks allowed in 64.1 innings ranks first in the WAC and 20th in the nation.
- Closer Zach Wolf also continues to dominate. At 4-0 with eight saves and a 3.13 ERA in 22 appearances, Wolf has fanned 43 batters in 31.2 innings. He holds opponents to a .189 average.
- Dalton Hurd was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of April 9-14. He led the Redhawks to a 5-0 week as he became the Redhawks' all-time hits and runs scored leader.
- Chase Wells was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1. He collected eight hits, including a triple and a home run, on his way to batting .615 in a three-game series at Chicago State.
- Dalton Hurd hit his fourth home run of the season on Mar. 24 at New Mexico State, giving him 16 for his career, which makes him the Redhawks' career leader. He passed Josh Kalalau, who hit 15 home runs from 2010-11.
- Zach Wolf was named WAC Pitcher of the Week on March 19. He picked up a trio of saves as the Redhawks went 3-0 against Pacific Northwest opponents.
- The Redhawks were selected fourth in the WAC preseason poll, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. New Mexico State was selected to finish second, and earned a pair of first-place votes.
