SEATTLE – (April 17) The Seattle University women’s tennis team has added three recruits in Hannah Grossman, Jillian Rasmussen and Martina Asciuto for the 2018-19 season.

Grossman is a native from Henderson, Nev. where she has played varsity tennis all four years at Coronado High School. She led the Cougars to a State Tournament Championship in 2017, and also earned second-team All-State that year. She was named the Sunrise Region Player of the Year for 2017. In 2016, Grossman was named to the first team All-State team, and was also named the team’s MVP and captain 2016 and 2017. Grossman will pursue a career in nursing at Seattle U.

"We are so excited to have Hannah join our family here,” Seattle U head coach Adam Reeb said. “She is an excellent student-athlete who will contribute so much both on and off the court to our Seattle U community.  Hannah possesses a great all-court game which translates well to both singles and doubles, and she has been trained by some of the best coaches in the country at the No Quit Tennis Academy.  Hannah is such a hard worker as well and her game is only going to keep getting better in college.  Most importantly, Hannah is a young woman of great character and she comes from an awesome family.  She will be a great teammate and leader, and Hannah is someone you want to be playing in a close match as she is fearless and plays with such passion for her team."

Rasmussen comes to Seattle U from Arcadia High School in Phoenix, Ariz. where she has played varsity tennis all four years and was a captain from 2016-18. She led the Titans to a State Championship in 2017 and was named All-City in 2015, 2016, and 2017. While at Seattle U, Rasmussen plans on majoring in biology. She has enjoyed getting the opportunity to travel the country to play tennis tournaments. When not playing tennis, she enjoys giving back to the community as she is a member of the National Charity League where she has completed over 100 hours of philanthropic work.

"We are so happy to have Jillian joining our family next year," Reeb said. "She is a strong player whose style will translate well to college tennis. She has always been ranked pretty high in her class, and we are excited to have her join our big freshman class next year. Jillian is a great student too and is overall just a great fit for our program. We couldn't be happier to have her at SU."

Asciuto resides in Irvine, Calif. and attends Orange Lutheran High School. She has played varsity tennis all four years and has been named the team’s MVP 2015, 2016, and 2017. She was the Trinity League Singles Champion her senior year and was also named the Trinity League MVP that same year. When not playing tennis, Asciuto enjoys traveling, working out and cooking.

"We are thrilled to be having Martina join our program," Reeb said. "She is a great addition to our team.  Martina has consistently gotten better every year in the juniors and high school, and we definitely feel that will continue here at Seattle U.  Martina is ranked in the top 50 in California which is quite a feat, and she is also an outstanding student.  She is exactly the type of student-athlete we want here in our Seattle U family, and she will be a great representative of our school and program and we're excited to have with us the next four years."
