DENVER – (April 9) Carley Nance of Seattle University softball has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 8. She pitched a three-hitter in SU’s 1-0 win over Kansas City on April 7.
The Maple Valley, Wash., native threw a complete game in the Redhawks’ victory over the ‘Roos on Saturday. Nance struck out two hitters and walked none as SU secured its first WAC series sweep since 2013.
She also pitched three innings in SU’s game at No. 1 Washington on April 4. Nance gave up four hits and two runs in a tight 3-1 defeat.
In the Redhawks’ 13-0 win over UMKC on April 6, Nance hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the fourth inning, collecting her first career hit at SU.
In 2018, the redshirt freshman has a 12-10 record and a 2.76 ERA. She has struck out 109 batters in 134.1 innings. Nance leads the WAC in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched this season.
Nance also won the WAC’s weekly honor on March 19. Shianne Smith took the award on March 5.
Seattle U heads to CSU Bakersfield for a three-game series this weekend.
