DENVER – (April 3) The Seattle University women’s tennis team swept the Western Athletic Conference women’s player of the week awards, as Hannah Gianan won the singles award, and Michelle Lui and Kelli Woodman earned the doubles’ honor.

“All three of them competed exceptionally well and played very solid this week and it only makes us look tougher for the rest of the season,” assistant coach Jessica Perez said.

Gianan, a freshman, won her match against Whitman College’s second flight competitor 6-1, 6-0, leading the Redhawks to a 7-0 shutout win.

Lui and Woodman joined Gianan in the winning, as they paired up in doubles and beat Whitman College’s top doubles team 6-2.

The Redhawks will look to build some momentum with this as they head into a weekend of conference matches at home. They host New Mexico State on Friday at 1 p.m., Chicago State on Saturday at noon, and Grand Canyon on Sunday at 2 p.m. All three matches will be played at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.
