SEATTLE – (March 31) The Seattle University women’s tennis team played a non-conference match against Whitman College and shut them out 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Seattle U Tennis Courts.

The Redhawks were looking to get back on the win column to get ready for conference next weekend, and they did just that. Kelli Woodman and Michelle Lui led the way with a commanding 6-2 win in doubles. Kyra Jung and Hannah Gianan followed with a 6-4 win, and Kali McCollister and Lily-Ana Kreutzer closed out doubles with a 7-5 win taking the doubles point to start the match.

In singles, SU looked strong, winning their match on every court to seal the shutout. Gianan started off with a 6-1, 6-0 win to get the team going. Jung and Woodman followed with wins to seal the victory, and Lui, McCollister and Kreutzer closed it out with wins of their own.

“We played some very solid singles and doubles today,” assistant coach Jessica Perez said. “It was a great match for us before our home conference matches weekend.”

The Redhawks will get back to their conference schedule when they host three WAC matches next weekend at the Amy Yee Tennis Center. They play New Mexico State on Friday at 1 p.m., Chicago State on Saturday at noon, and Grand Canyon at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
