SEATTLE – (March 26) Seattle University women’s swimming notched one of the biggest dual meet wins in program history and continued to rewrite SU’s record books in the 2017-18 season. A strong class of returners should have Coach Craig Nisgor’s squad staying on an upward trend in 2018-19.

Seattle U went in to the WAC Championships looking to make noise and it did just that, as SU notched 19 all-time top-10 races. Paige Treff put together a tremendous weekend, setting three new school records in Houston. The senior claimed bronze in the 50 freestyle, topping her own program mark three times in one day. Treff set the SU record in the 50 freestyle prelims, the 50 freestyle finals, and then to lead off the 200 freestyle relay, finishing with a 23.07 time. Over the following two days, Treff broke the school record in the 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle.

The 200 freestyle relay of Treff, Allison Plamondon, Jennifer Wong, and Margaux Thompson swam a 1:33.73, breaking the SU record and placing third at the conference meet. Bryn Lasher became the program’s 200 butterfly record-holder on the final day of the event.

In the 100 butterfly, five different Redhawks broke into the program’s top 10. Treff set the school record with a 55.14 while Lasher swam a 55.58 at the Husky Invitational, marking a program record at the time. Sherlyn Devadason, Emily Gough, and Plamondon each recorded top-10 efforts in the event at the WAC Championships.

Madi Lydig finished fifth in the 200 backstroke, touching in 2:00.15 in the finals.

On Nov. 11, Seattle U recorded a 143-116 win over Oregon State at the Connolly Complex. Treff and Lydig both won a pair of individual events to lead the Redhawks to their first win over a Pac-12 program in school history.

SU headed to the Husky Invitational in early December. It came away with an impressive fourth-place finish in the highly-competitive meet in Federal Way, Wash. Lasher set a then-school record in the 100 butterfly on the second day of event.

In early January, the Redhawks walloped Pacific Lutheran and then celebrated senior day with a 173-81 win over Whitworth at the Connolly Complex. Lydig, Treff, and Maddie Dickman were honored prior to their final home contest.

On the season, ninety-four percent of the team contributed lifetime best swims in at least one event.

Nisgor will return a core of top performers next season, giving the Redhawks hope to keep posting record-setting times in the 2018-19 campaign.
