EDINBURG, Texas – (March 25) The Seattle University women’s tennis team fell 7-0 to UTRGV in a Western Athletic Conference match Sunday afternoon at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
Michelle Lui and Kelli Woodman once again won their doubles match against UTRGV’s top opponent following their win yesterday, but the #2 and #3 courts went the Vaqueros’ way, giving them the doubles point.
In singles, the Vaqueros used the momentum from singles and took all six matches, securing the 7-0 shutout.
“Tough day today,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “UTRGV was just too good. We didn’t have the same energy today as we did yesterday, so our goal over the next month will be to concentrate on that on the court and in the weight room. We’ll bounce back and are excited to close the regular season the next couple of weeks at home in Seattle.”
The Redhawks will play a non-conference match next Saturday against Whitman College at the SU Tennis Courts, and then close out conference play with three home conference matches April 6-8 against New Mexico State, Chicago State and Grand Canyon.
