DENVER – (March 19) Carley Nance of Seattle University softball has been chosen Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week, for the period ending March 18.
Nance, a redshirt freshman, pitched in three games over the weekend. She allowed no earned runs in 13.1 innings in the circle. The native of Maple Valley, Wash., struck out 10 and held her opponents to a .176 batting average.
Against Bryant on Friday, Nance pitched six scoreless innings while striking out seven Bulldogs. On Saturday, she threw five innings and gave up two unearned runs. Nance closed the weekend with a 2.1 frames of relief pitching in a 5-1 win over Portland State yesterday.
In 2018, Nance leads the WAC in wins (10), strikeouts (84), and appearances (24). She joins Shianne Smith as WAC weekly award winners on the SU pitching staff this season.
Seattle U went 5-1 at this weekend's Seattle U Invitational, improving to 19-13 this year. With its next win, the Redhawks will match their win total from the 2017 season. They head to Santa Barbara, Calif., for the Gaucho Classic this coming weekend.
