Bozeman, Mont. – (Feb. 3) In their first of two matches in Bozeman this weekend, the Seattle University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match to Montana on Saturday afternoon at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.

 

Things started well for the Redhawks, as they took the doubles point with wins in the first and second flights. Hannah Gianan and Kyra Jung took care of business at #2 with a 6-4 win, and Michelle Lui and Kelli Woodman sealed the point with a 6-2 victory at #1.

 

Singles were a different story, as the Grizzlies took command in all but one court. Woodman was the only Redhawk to defeat her opponent. She won her match in flight #4 6-3, 6-2. After that win though, the Grizzlies overcame the 2-0 deficit, and won five straight points to secure the 5-2 win.

 

Despite the loss, head coach Adam Reeb remained optimistic.

 

“Today was a great college tennis match,” Reeb said. “These ladies fought hard and left everything they had on the court. As I told them, I am proud of them but they should feel like an opportunity slipped away today. This team is too good to be satisfied with playing close. We just need to keep our focus throughout a little better and finish these opportunities we are setting ourselves up for.”

 

The Resdhawks will get a chance to redeem themselves early tomorrow morning when they face Montana State at 9 a.m.

 

“We're excited to get back out there tomorrow morning against Montana State,” Reeb added.
