DAY ONE RESULTS

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – (Dec. 1) Seattle University men’s swimming opened competition at the 69th Annual Husky Invitational Friday. The 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay teams both finished third in their races.

"It was a good day overall," said Coach Craig Nisgor. "We started off pretty strong and we tend to get stronger as this meet goes on. The team has a good attitude right now and we'll just look to keep it going tomorrow."

Ben Nussbaum finished in 1:53.21 to take sixth in the 200 IM. The time is the seventh-best in school history, as Nussbaum improved his personal-record time in the event.

Greg Raper was a sixth-place finisher in the 50 freestyle final, swimming a 20.95. Earlier in the day, Raper claimed a 20.87, just off his personal best (20.79) from last month. Jack Baldoni took eighth in the finals (21.15). In prelims, Baldoni logged a personal-record 21.00 time. Isaac Parker's 21.48 in the prelims notched a personal best.

Alex Roderick's 4:36.28 in the 500 freestyle prelims was good for a personal best finish.

In the 400 medley relay, the group of Jason Klein, Nussbaum, Baldoni and Mitchell Crossen posted a 3:24.60, placing third in the finals Friday.

The 200 freestyle relay of Crossen, Baldoni, Ian Keane, and Raper combined to touch in 1:24.09, good for third in the finals.

SU returns to action with seven races at the Husky Invite tomorrow. Preliminaries will take place beginning at 9 a.m., with finals scheduled for 6 p.m.
