DENVER – (Oct. 30) Ashley Routh of Seattle University women’s soccer is the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 29. Routh made six saves in SU’s 2-0 win over Utah Valley on Saturday night.

On senior night, the Redhawks shut out UVU, as Routh came on in relief to play 81 minutes in net. The redshirt sophomore posted two saves in the first half and then came up with four stops in the second frame.

Since returning from injury earlier this month, Routh has been SU’s primary goalkeeper. She hasn’t allowed a goal in her last three appearances-a span of 261 minutes. The native of Edmunds, Wash., has compiled 10 saves in that stretch, which has seen the Redhawks go 2-0-1.

Routh joins Mackenzie Curry as a WAC Defensive Player of the Week winner this season.

Seattle U earned the fourth seed in this year’s WAC Championship. It will face New Mexico State in the first round on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at Grand Canyon.
