NEWS AND NOTES

  • The Redhawks are coming off a 3-0 win over Pacific on Saturday. Madeline Racine, Jessie Ray, and Jennifer Plummer all scored in the second half as SU broke a scoreless halftime tie. 
  • Hawaii lost to Pacific, 1-0, on Thursday at home. It outshot the Tigers, 17-9, in the defeat.
  • Seattle U dropped its first two matches of the season, falling, 2-0, at Cal State Fullerton before suffering a 2-1 setback to Oregon State at Championship Field. Ray scored the Redhawks’ lone goal on the weekend.
  • For a fifth straight year, SU was voted as favorites in the WAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Stephanie Spiekerman, the reigning WAC Defensive Player of the Year, was chosen WAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
  • In its first two matches of 2017, the Rainbow Warriors won in overtime, beating Utah Valley and Fairfield, 2-1, in extra time.
  • Julie Woodward begins her 21th overall season as SU’s head coach. She has won 275 games in his career and guided the Redhawks to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
  • Michelle Nagamine is in her seventh season with Hawaii. In 2016, she led her squad to a 9-6-2 mark, good for the program's first winning season since 2008.
