SEATTLE – (Aug. 24) Seattle University volleyball opens the 2017 season at the Cal Molten Classic on Friday, Aug. 25 and Saturday, Aug. 26. The Redhawks face Loyola-Chicago on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Haas Pavilion in Berekey, Calif. Play concludes Saturday as the Redhawks face UC Irvine at 12:30 p.m. and host Cal at 7:30 p.m.

- The Redhawks return to the Cal Molten Classic for the second time in the last three years.
- Seattle U has a pair of Preseason All-WAC players in Katarina Marinkovic and Maja Stojanovic. Marinkovic is the reigning WAC Freshman of the Year.
- Junior setter Shae Harris, a Vancouver, B.C. native, spent the summer playing with the Canadian National Team.
- Head Coach James Finley enters his fifth season at the helm of the Redhawk program.
- The 2016 squad went 13-15 overall and 6-8 in WAC play.
- Loyola-Chicago was picked fourth in the preseason Missouri Valley Conference poll. Junior Gabi Maciagowski was named to the Preseason All-MVC team. The Ramblers went 14-18 overall and 9-9 in the MVC in 2016.
- UC Irvine was picked fifth in the preseason Big West Conference poll. The Anteaters went 12-18 overall and 7-9 in the BWC in 2016.
- Cal is under the direction of new Head Coach Matt McShane, who served as an assistant coach for the Bears form 2005-09. Cal went 9-21 overall and 3-17 in the Pac-12 in 2016.
