PHOENIX - (Mar. 26) A tough weekend in the desert came to a close Sunday afternoon as the Redhawks dropped their second consecutive WAC conference match, this time to the Roos of UMKC.
While SU and UMKC split the first two doubles games, the Roos secured the deciding third game to earn the doubles point. From there, no Redhawk was able to capture a singles victory en route to a 7-0 defeat.
While Seattle U was hoping for a different start to conference play, head coach Adam Reeb knows his team has no choice but to get back to work, which begins with a solid week of practice.
"This match was a lot closer than the final score," said Reeb. "We had opportunities again, but UMKC is a tough out and well coached.
We're not far off though, we've got to take the positives from this weekend and work to get better. We've got a month to get better and our only focus is on that."
The Redhawks have three conference games remaining on their schedule, with New Mexico State next. SU will host the Aggies on Friday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. They then face Chicago State on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., followed by a 4:00 p.m. match with Grand Canyon on Sunday.
All three matches will take place at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.
