DENVER (March 5) – Alexis Montgomery of Seattle University women’s basketball has been chosen Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, for the period ending March 5. Montgomery led the Redhawks with 21 points in SU’s 65-55 win over Utah Valley on Saturday.
The Beaverton, Oregon, native hit 8-18 field goal attempts on her way to 21 points in the regular-season finale at the Connolly Complex. She also grabbed eight rebounds and collected three steals. Montgomery also connected on 5-6 free throw tries in the victory, which clinched second place in the WAC for Seattle U.
The honor is Montgomery’s second of the season. She won in early February following a stellar performance at Utah Valley on Feb. 4. In two games against the Wolverines, Montgomery totaled 38 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists.
Montgomery leads SU with 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this season. She posted seven double-doubles in the regular season.
Seattle U finished the regular season with a 13-16 overall record and a 10-4 conference mark. It will face Chicago State in the first round of the WAC Tournament on Wednesday, March 8. Tip time is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
