SEATTLE - (Feb. 28) This past weekend the Seattle U women's tennis team participated in the 28th Annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Dream Gala, which supports efforts to end type 1 diabetes (T1D).
This marks the fifth consecutive year the tennis program has particpated in the gala as it is close to the hearts of several current and former team members, according to head coach Adam Reeb.
Junior co-captain Madison Maloney is especially grateful for the support the team has shown over the years. "Having the team support JDRF by volunteering at the Gala means everything to me because it combines my two worlds," said Maloney.
"Showing community support through volunteer work together brings us closer, and makes us stronger on and off the court."
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research who focuses exclusively on the worldwide effort to end type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. There is no known prevention and currently, no cure.
