DAY ONE RESULTS | WAC CHAMPIONSHIPS CENTRAL
HOUSTON (Feb. 22) – The Seattle University women’s swimming team began action at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships Wednesday night. The 800 freestyle relay team recorded the second-fastest time in program history in the meet at the University of Houston.
"We had some things going tonight," said Coach Craig Nisgor. "We just had a few little things that cost us. We know we're going to bounce back. Breaking a couple school records on the first night is pretty good."
In the 800 freestyle relay, the group of Blaise Wittenauer-Lee, Kristin Hoffman, Madi Lydig, and Jayna Van Stone placed seventh. They tallied a time of 7:27.30, good for the second-best time in school history. Wittenauer-Lee’s leadoff time of 1:48.75 is a school record by 1.5 seconds. Northern Arizona won the race with a 7:20.31 time.
Julia Gorman, Maddie Dickman, Katie Rottman, Emma Foster, and Darian Himes each set new personal-best times in time trial competition Wednesday. In the 50 freestyle, Gorman swam a 25.27. Dickman posted a 53.22 in the 100 free, with Rottman (54.48), Foster (55.14), and Himes (56.63) close behind.
