SEATTLE - (Feb. 11) The Seattle U Men's tennis team earned its fifth win of the season Saturday night at the Tennis Center at Sand Point as they defeated the Portland State Vikings 4-3.

Michael Schoettler, Jeremiah Kalmus, and Alex Chan all posted singles victories as each continue to build on their impressive play. Schoettler and Kalmus each earned their victories in straigh sets, 6-1, 6-4, and 7-5, 6-0, respectively.

Head coach Adam Reeb was proud of the way his guys competed from start to finish against the Vikings.

"Another great match with Portland State who is such a tough team to play," said Reeb. "Our doubles was good today and it was big for us to get that point as we knew it would be a close match. Everyone played super hard in the singles and it was a total team victory.

I'm so proud of Alex Chan for hanging tough in his match and playing smart and coming up clutch in the decider again for us. Just a great effort by the guys. We've got a three match winning streak at home and we look to keep playing solid tomorrow against Linfield."

With the win, the Redhawks are now on a three game win streak with victories over George Fox, Pacific Lutheran, and now Portland State. It is also SU's second victory over PSU this season.

SU returns to the court tomorrow as they host Linfield at the Tennis Center at Sand Point. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
