DENVER (Feb. 1) – Paige Bouska of the Seattle University softball team has been named 2017 Preseason All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Redhawks were voted to tie for third place in the coaches’ poll.

Bouska is a senior from Keizer, Oregon. The outfielder hit .356 while starting all 52 games for SU. She led the team in hits (68), runs scored (30), and total bases (77). Bouska also paced the Redhawks with 23 multi-hit outings. She earned Second Team All-WAC honors following the season.

“Paige is our most consistent hitter,” said Coach Geoff Hirai. “It’s great to see her work ethic recognized by the rest of the conference.”

Hirai, entering his second season at SU, took the Redhawks to the WAC Tournament semifinals in 2016. They were selected to tie for third in the 2017 preseason poll, along with CSU Bakersfield. Grand Canyon and New Mexico State were voted to tie for first place. UMKC and Utah Valley rounded out the poll.

Seattle U opens the 2017 season on Friday, Feb. 10. It will play five games over three days at the Kajikawa Classic, hosted by Arizona State.
