VANCOUVER (Jan. 28) – Seattle University women’s swimming dropped a 122-83 decision at Simon Fraser Saturday afternoon. Blaise Wittenauer-Lee won the 200 breaststroke in the regular-season finale at Margaret and Paul Savage Pool.
“We had some strong swims today,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “Kaitlyn, Madi, Katie, and Celeste were solid in their events.”
In the 200 breaststroke, Wittenauer-Lee tallied a 2:36.64, touching the wall first by almost three seconds. Wittenauer-Lee finished second in the 200 IM. Jessie Gibson’s 2:18.27 just edged out Wittenauer-Lee’s time of 2:18.31 in the event.
Kristin Hoffman was the runner-up in the 200 freestyle. Her time of 2:11.45 just beat the third-place finisher. In the 50 freestyle, Paige Treff, Maddie Dickman, and Margaux Thompson placed second, third, and fourth, respectively.
In the 200 butterfly, Kaitlyn Overstreet took second with a 2:22.82. Jayna Van Stone and Hoffman finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 freestyle. In the 200 backstroke, Madi Lydig, Katie Rottman, and Celeste Salopek placed 2-3-4 for SU.
SU compiled an 8-7 record in the regular season. It will head to the WAC Championships Feb. 22-25 in Houston.
“We put ourselves in a good place going into conference,” said Nisgor. “We’ll just look to put up good times and make things happen.”
