SEATTLE - (Jan 24) Seattle U’s Jeremiah Kalmus has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Players of the Week for January 16-22.

Kalmus, a sophomore from Kenmore, Wash., went three for four against Montana State. He won his first singles match (6-2, 0-6, 6-0) before taking the win in singles again (4-6, 6-3, 6-0). He teamed up with partner Alex Chan for doubles where they won one of two matches (6-3).

Seattle U men's tennis coach Adam Reeb commented on his sophomore's recognition.

"Jeremiah has been working super hard so very proud of him for receiving this recognition, it's well deserved," said Reeb.

"Jeremiah is one of the hardest working student-athletes I've ever coached. He had a great weekend and has become a staple in our lineup. Jeremiah is moving well and being more aggressive and you can see his confidence growing with each match."

Kalmus and the rest of the Redhawks men's tennis team will travel to Portland, Ore. this weekend to take on the Pilots and Vikings.
