SEATTLE (Jan. 6) – The Seattle University women’s swimming team beat Pomona-Pitzer, 154-93, Friday evening. Madi Lydig and Blaise Wittenauer-Lee each won two races in the meet, held at the Connolly Complex.
Lydig took first in both the 1000 freestyle and the 200 backstroke. She dominated the field in the 200 back, posting the lowest time on each lap of the event on her way to a 2:04.73 total. In the 1000 free, Lydig swam a 10:44.31, edging out teammate Emma Foster for first. Foster settled for second with a 10:46.38 finish.
In the 100 breaststroke, the Redhawks claimed the top three spots. Blaise Wittenauer-Lee took first with a 1:05.37, with Annika Perry and Margaux Thompson following in second and third, respectively.
Wittenauer-Lee also won the 200 IM, easily taking down the rest of the field. She swam a 2:09.69 to win by nearly six seconds.
Kaitlyn Overstreet contributed a time of 58.47 to win the 100 butterfly. Emily Gough finished second with a 59.25 time. Paige Treff swam a 24.47 in the 50 freestyle, claiming a victory. In the 200 breaststroke, Perry won with a 2:27.24, cruising to the win. Celeste Salopek won the 200 freestyle. Both relay teams also won Friday.
“Overall, it was a solid performance,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “We can happy that we had some great swims, but we’re not satisfied.”
Seattle U will host Whitworth tomorrow at 2 p.m. The 12 SU seniors will be recognized prior to the meet.
