FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (Dec. 4) - Seattle University women’s swimming wrapped up action at the 68th Annual Husky Invitational Sunday. For the third straight day, Blaise Wittenauer-Lee won an individual event, this time touching first in the 200 breaststroke.

“We really had a strong weekend overall,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “There were a lot of lifetime and season bests put up. It is really a great point to be at mid-season. Setting four women’s school records and three men’s school records really helps to set up us for a great second half of the year. The teams also got behind each other with every swim and it really showed what SU swimming is all about. I am very proud of what the team accomplished this weekend.”

Wittenauer-Lee, a senior, won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke earlier in the weekend. On Sunday, she took first and set another school record in the 200 breaststroke. She swam a 2:11.26 in the contest, winning by almost two full seconds and setting a meet record. The time also qualified as an NCAA ‘B’ cut. Wittenauer-Lee topped her own previous mark of 2:11.49 in the event.

Kaitlyn Overstreet continued her stellar weekend with a fourth-place showing in the 200 butterfly. In preliminaries, she posted a time of 2:05.27 and followed with a 2:05.49 in the finals of the race. Maddie Rapp produced a time of 2:05.98, good for ninth in the finals and the fifth-best time in school history.

Madi Lydig tallied a 2:00.88 in the 200 backstroke preliminaries. The time is just .01 off the SU record. She also competed in the 1650 freestyle, taking fourth place with a 17:37.80 time. Her performance is the fourth-best in program history.

Celeste Salopek and Jayna Van Stone both provided strong times in the 200 backstroke prelims as well. Salopek posted a 2:07.48, good for sixth in Redhawks history, while Van Stone swam a 2:07.61, seventh-fastest in school annals.

Annika Perry finished 12th in the 200 breaststroke finals and also tallied a 2:23.94 time in prelims.

In the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Wittenauer-Lee, Kristin Hoffman, Van Stone, and Salopek logged a 3:33.54 performance, placing seventh and recording the seventh-best time in SU history.

The Redhawks are off until Jan. 6 when they host Pomona Pitzer at the Connolly Complex.
