SEATTLE (Dec. 2) - Seattle University women’s swimming began action at the 68th Annual Husky Invitational on Friday. Blaise Wittenauer-Lee set a school record on her way to a win in the 200 individual medley.
Wittenauer-Lee posted a time of 2:01.77, touching first in the 200 IM. Her time also set a school record, which she had set in a preliminary race earlier Friday.
“She is training at the highest level right now,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “Her attention to detail is really good and that’s showing in her races.”
In the 400 medley relay, the team of Celeste Salopek, Wittenauer-Lee, Kaitlyn Overstreet, and Jayna VanStone recorded a time of 3:48.76, second-fastest in program history. Salopek keyed the performance with her backstroke, tallying the second-fastest time in school history in the first leg of the relay.
“Celeste was great in getting off to a really strong start in the relay,” said Nisgor.
The competition continues Saturday, with seven more events.
