KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 30) – Brie Hooks, Stephanie Spiekerman, and Karli White of the Seattle University women’s soccer team have been named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-West Region Team. Hooks was a second team choice, while Spiekerman and White were both picked to the third team.

The NSCAA All-Region squads are voted on by member coaches. Five WAC players were chosen this year, with SU leading the way with three honorees.

Hooks is a senior from Maple Valley, Washington. She led the Redhawks with seven goals and four assists this season. She earned Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Offensive Player of the Year and All-WAC First Team recognition. Hooks tallied four game-winning goals, most in the conference this year.

Spiekerman won WAC Defensive Player of the Year. The junior from Seattle anchored an SU defense that gave up just five goals in WAC regular season play. She started all 21 games and won three conference weekly honors.

White, a sophomore from South Bend, Washington, was an All-WAC First Team selection. She put up six goals and three assists, including three game-winning scores.

Coach Julie Woodward guided Seattle U to a terrific season in 2016, as the Redhawks won 14 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time since 2013. SU has won seven of the last eight WAC titles (four regular season, three tournament). It returns nine starters in 2017.

Since joining the WAC for the 2012 campaign, SU has now landed nine different players on all-region teams.
