SEATTLE (Nov. 30) - Seattle University softball has announced its 2017 schedule. The Redhawks will face three nationally-ranked teams and have eight games at Logan Field this season.

Coach Geoff Hirai enters his second season at the helm of the SU program. In 2016, Seattle U won 19 games and hosted the WAC Tournament.

For the 2017 campaign, the Redhawks open with a trip to Tempe, Arizona, for the Kajikawa Classic on Feb. 10-12. SU faces Indiana in the season-opener, with a date against Oregon set for Feb. 11. The Ducks finished last season ranked #10 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll.

The following weekend, Seattle U travels to Santa Clara, California, for the Bronco Classic. The Redhawks will face Montana twice and Santa Clara three times at the event.

Seattle U returns to the Golden State from Feb. 24-26, as it competes in the Libby Matson Tournament in Stockton, California. On March 3-5, the Redhawks head to the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Hirai’s squad hosts Penn State in the 2017 home opener on March 8. The doubleheader with the Big Ten program is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Logan Field.

The Redhawks make the short trip to the University of Washington for their next outing, as SU will play in the Husky Classic from March 10-12. Seattle U will face South Dakota and Minnesota twice and play UW once. Washington finished the 2016 campaign ranked 13th, while Minnesota was tabbed #20 in the season-ending poll.

On March 17-19, SU heads to the Griz Classic in Missoula, Montana. It will face Montana three times and play 2016 NCAA Tournament qualifier Maine twice.

In their final tournament of the regular season, the Redhawks play in the Gaucho Classic in Santa Barbara, California. They are slated to play San Diego and Santa Clara twice and UCSB one time.

Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play opens the next weekend, with SU traveling to Grand Canyon for three games. On April 7-8, the Redhawks welcome New Mexico State to Logan Field for the WAC home opener.

Following conference trips to Utah Valley (April 14-15) and UMKC (April 21-22), Seattle U hosts CSU Bakersfield on senior weekend April 28-29.

The WAC Championship is set for May 11-13 at New Mexico State.
