SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seattle University Women’s Tennis Program has received signed National Letters of Intent from high school seniors Hannah Gianan and Kyra Jung, as announced Monday by head coach Adam Reeb. They will both enroll at Seattle U for the 2017-18 academic year and begin their freshman seasons in the fall.
Gianan is from Washougal, Washington, and attends Camas High School. She will enter this spring as the fourth-year singles varsity number one and look to build upon her 49-3 record. She earned the 2016 all-league player of the year award and the 2016 Columbian all-region girls tennis player of the year. She is a back-to-back state doubles champion, the first state championship for Camas High in 37 years. Gianan has also compiled a 33-9 record competing in the United States Tennis Association.
Head Coach Adam Reeb is ecstatic to bring in not only an elite talent, but also an exemplary person of character.
"Hannah is a top ranked recruit who we're thrilled is joining us, said Reeb.” “She has been ranked close to top 125 in the country, so she is coming to our program with a history of success and winning. She has achieved and excelled in both junior tennis and high school tennis, and we can't wait for her to bring that history of success to our program.Hannah is a very hard worker, and she leads by example through her work ethic and attitude. She's a team first type of person, and she is a great fit for our SU family."
Jung joins the Redhawk family from Upper Arlington High School in Ohio, and is a Columbus native. She was the division I state doubles champion in 2014 as well as the 2015 greater Columbus tennis association female athlete of the year. Jung has a combined high school and club record of 86-10.
Head Coach Adam Reeb believes Kyra has the experience and ability to be a instant impact player for the Redhawks.
"Kyra brings so much to our program, said Reeb.” “Her aggressive game style will translate immediately to both singles and doubles as we look forward to her making an impact in both right away. She is match tough playing against the best players in the Midwest Section of the USTA growing up, and she has gotten great results in both singles and doubles during her junior career. Kyra fit in right away with our team and school and city when she visited, and we're so excited to welcome her into our program."
