Lila Rice (Redmond, Wash.) has been named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of November 1st – November 7th.  Rice, a senior Nursing major, cruised to a huge win in the WAC Championship Saturday, October 29th with a time of 18:00:60, 19 seconds ahead of the second place runner. Rice made her mark in the WAC as a first year student in 2013 as the Freshman of the Year and now was named Athlete of the Year and First team all WAC for her incredible performance.  Lila and her teammates will compete in the NCAA Regionals November 11th in Sacramento, Calif.

Off the field, Rice is seeking a degree in Nursing, one of the most challenging degrees to juggle with a heavy athletic schedule. She has excelled in the classroom and clinical placements and currently holds a 3.748 GPA.

The Seattle University athletics department names a Featured Student-Athlete each Tuesday based on performances both in the classroom and in competition. Student-athletes must earn over a 3.0 GPA and be at least a second year student to be nominated for the award.
