PLEASANT GROVE, Utah - (Oct. 8) A tight battle between Seattle University and Utah Valley went the way of the Wolverines in a four-set final in Western Athletic Conference volleyball action Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawks dropped the 3-1 final 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25, falling to an even 9-9 overall and 2-3 in WAC play. UVU improve to 7-11 overall and 3-2 in league matches.

Matea Mamic led Seattle U with 14 kills, just hit just .140 for the match. Freshman Mila Duarte was a bright spot with 13 kills on 32 swings and four errors. Iris Ivanis added 28 digs and Maja Stojanovic had seven block assists.

The Redhawks edged UVU in blocks, 11-9.5, but never hit over .200 in a set.

Three Wolverines finished with double-digit kills including Madison Dennison with 17 and Lexi Thompson and Kiahna Vernon with 13 apiece.

Seattle U continues WAC play on the road next week, traveling to Grand Canyon on Thursday, Oct. 13 and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Five of the Redhawks’ final seven matches will be at home in the Connolly Complex, beginning Thursday, Oct. 20 against UTRGV.
