KANSAS CITY - (Oct. 29) Seattle University volleyball closed out its final regular-season road trip of the season with a 25-27, 25-16, 22-25, 25-27 setback at Western Athletic Conference rival UMKC Saturday afternoon.

Playing without senior outside hitter Matea Mamic due to a nagging shoulder injury, the Redhawks (12-12, 5-6 WAC) continued to receive great output from freshman Katarina Marinkovic, who led all players with 23 kills to go along with nine digs. Shae Harris added 14 kills and setter Kerry Lane had 44 assists and 13 digs for her third double-double of the season. Iris Ivanis added a match-high 20 digs.

Seattle U dropped the first and deciding fourth set by just two points, and the third set by three. The Redhawks also finished with 13 more total kills as they hit .281 for the match compared to the Roos’ .243 hitting percentage.

But UMKC (13-10, 6-4 WAC) got going late in the match. After managing just six kills to to along with eight errors in the second set, the Roos hit .417 in set three and an even .400 in the final set.

Seattle U closes out the final two weeks of regular-season WAC play at home, beginning Saturday, Nov. 5 against Utah Valley. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
