SEATTLE – (Oct. 21) Seattle University Athletics lost one of its all-time greats in the passing of Hall of Famer Gary Ladd on Thursday, Oct. 13.
 
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at the River of Life Fellowship Church located at 10615 SE 216th Street in Kent, Wash. The service is open to the public.
 
Ladd attended Seattle U and played basketball from 1969-1972. In his three years, Seattle U won 44 games, including two wins over the Washington Huskies. During his career, Ladd accumulated a total of 877 points, averaging 12 points per game. He ranked seventh in career assists during Seattle U’s first Division I era with 162, plus he pulled down 171 rebounds during his collegiate career. He was the first Seattle U player to earn First Team All-West Coast Athletic Conference honors after the school joined the league in the 1971-72 season. 

Ladd was drafted in the fifth round of the 1972 NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics, and participated in training camps for both the San Antonio Spurs and the Portland Trailblazers. After a brief playing career in Europe, Ladd returned to Seattle and has been a successful entrepreneur and businessman in several industries, from barbershops to basketball clinics. 

Ladd was inducted into the Seattle U Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
