SEATTLE – (Oct. 1) The Redhawk men’s and women’s cross country teams raced in the UW Invitational today at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Wash., the same course they will use to host the WAC Championships at the end of the month.

The men finished in 7th place in front of WAC-competitor Grand Canyon and just three points shy of Eastern Washington. The women finished in 9th place.

Chay Weaver was the first from Seattle U to cross the finish line, setting a new collegiate personal record with a time of 24:50.40.

On the women’s side, Olivia Stein was the first Redhawk to cross the finish line with a time of 21:48.90.

“We got a good idea of where we are versus where we want to be a month from now on the same course,” head coach Trisha Steidl said. “If nothing else, I think this gets the team fired up to control the controllables, focus in, and work hard toward having the end to the season that we know we're capable of having.”

The team will stay in Seattle for the next meet, racing at the Emerald City Open hosted by Seattle U at Lower Woodland Park on Oct. 15.
