SEATTLE - (Oct. 16) Following a road-heavy schedule in recent weeks, round two of Western Athletic Conference play begins at home for the Seattle University volleyball team. The Redhawks return to the Connolly Complex to host five of its final seven regular-season matches, beginning Thursday, Oct. 20 as SU welcomes Western Athletic Conference foe UTRGV for a 5 p.m. first serve. On Saturday, SU hosts New Mexico State at 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS (10-10, 3-4 WAC)
• Seattle U went 1-1 on the road last week, earning a 3-2 thrilling win at Grand Canyon before dropping a five-set battle at CSU Bakersfield.
• Senior outside hitter Matea Mamic led the Redhawks in kills in both matches, finishing with 21 and 14, respectively. Mamic enters Thursday’s match with 995 career kills.
• Libero Iris Ivanis recorded her 1,000th career dig in the fourth set of the Redhawks’ loss at Utah Valley on Oct. 8. The senior is the only active player in the WAC with more than 1,000 career digs.
• The Redhawks are among the leaders in the WAC in handful of statistical categories. Maja Stojanovic is second in hitting percentage (.326) and fourth in blocks (1.13 per set), Matea Mamic ranks fourth in kills per set (3.71) and third with 0.37 aces per set, Katarina Marinkovic is second with 0.49 aces per set, Shae Harris is fourth in assists per set (8.36) and Iris Ivan’s is fourth in digs per set (4.48). As a team, SU is also first in service aces with 1.69 per set.
• Maja Stojanovic earned her first career WAC Player of the Week honor on Oct. 3 after leading SU with 4.33 points, 3.50 kills on .667 hitting, 1.00 blocks, 0.67 digs, 0.33 service aces and 0.33 assists per set.
• The Redhawks went 2-1 at the Rutgers Invitational Sept. 15-16 to wrap up non-conference play. They took straight-set victories from Seton Hall and the host Scarlet Knights. The win over Rutgers marked the program’s first-ever win against the Big Ten opponent.
• Matea Mamic earned her second All-Tournament selection of the season at the Rutgers Invite. Shae Harris was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
• Matea Mamic and Maja Stojanovic were named to the All-Tournament Team of the Ultra Ankle Challenge, hosted by Oregon State.
• Seattle U was selected third in the 2016 Western Athletic Conference preseason poll.
• 2015 All-WAC selection Matea Mamic was voted to the 14-member Preseason All-WAC Team.
• Head Coach James Finley enters his fourth year at the helm of the program. Under Finley in 2015, the Redhawks had their best season yet, going 18-11 overall and 9-5 in WAC play.
• SU returns seven letterwinners, including four starters.
• The 2016 SU roster has true international flavor as six different countries are represented on the 14-member squad. That includes the United State (five different states), Canada (three different provinces), Serbia, Croatia and Peru.
ABOUT THE VAQUEROS (15-7, 5-2 WAC)
UTRGV enters the week tied for second in the WAC standings at 5-2 to go along with a 15-7 overall record. The Vaqueros have won three straight, including back-to-back sweeps of Chicago State and UMKC. Range Steen Knudsen leads the team with 3.78 kps while Bojana Mitrovic adds 3.43 kps. Barbara Silva leads the way with 1.26 bps. As a team, UTRGV leads the WAC at 16.67 dpg.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UTRGV
UTRGV won the first meeting of the season, 3-1, in Edinburg, Texas. Matea Mamic had 13 kills to lead the Redhawks while Bojana Mitrovic had a match-high 24 kills. Prior to that match, Seattle U had won all six previous meetings.
ABOUT THE AGGIES (17-5, 7-0 WAC)
New Mexico State leads the WAC with a perfect 7-0 league mark to go along with a 17-5 overall record. Jordan Abalos leads the team with 3.78 kps which ranks tied for second in the WAC. As a team, NMSU leads the league in kills per set at 14.25.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST NEW MEXICO STATE
Seattle U is 1-8 all-time against the Aggies after dropping a five-set thriller in Las Cruces earlier this season. Katarina Marinkovic and Kory White had 10 kills each to lead SU in the match. The Aggies were led by Jordan Abalos’ 21 kills. The lone Redhawks win was a 3-1 victory on Oct. 4, 2014.
