Isabelle Butterfield (Bellevue, Wash.) has been named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of October 4th through October 10th. Butterfield, a redshirt sophomore, scored her first goal of the season on Saturday night at Championship Field, leading Seattle U to a 1-0 victory over Utah Valley. Butterfield has been a key member of the Redhawks, starting in all 11 games this season. The win over Utah Valley moved SU to 5-5-1 on the season.
Off the field, Butterfield is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science and has achieved a 3.959 GPA in her first two years at Seattle University. She was voted secretary of Seattle U’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) after serving as a team representative in 2015-2016. She has been involved as a volunteer at Bailey Gatzert Elementary through the Seattle University Youth Initiative and has participated in several additional service activities through SAAC and the women’s soccer program.
The Seattle University athletics department names a Featured Student-Athlete each Tuesday based on performances both in the classroom and in competition. Butterfield is the first honoree for the 2016-17 academic year.
