COMPLETE RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – (Oct. 4) Led by undefeated play from senior Dorsey Addicks and sophomore Yen Ting Wong, Seattle University women’s golf went 2-1 in three head-to-heads at the Gonzaga Bulldogs Match Play Championship Sunday and Monday. Play was contested at the Manitol Golf & Country Club on the par 71, 6,112-yard course.
The Redhawks defeated Eastern Washington, 3-2-1, and Idaho, 3-2-1, before dropping the third match, 3-2-1, to Portland State.
This week was very unique for our program,” said SU Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “Match play is an entirely different type of competition than what we are used to playing. There is a type of pressure and gamesmanship that is different. You’ve got to be tough out there, show some grit.
“I was extremely happy with our team’s performance, especially in beating a 2016 NCAA regional qualifier in Idaho. Each week I have more and more faith in the fact that this will be a special year!”
In match play against EWU, Addicks, Ting Wong, and Kelly Hunt all picked up wins for the Redhawks. Addicks defeated Ashley Ohland 6&5, Ting Wong defeated Kirsten Ishikawa 3&1 and Hunt defeated Megan Ohland 7&6.
In the big team victory over Idaho, SU got wins from Ellen Brandberg, Addicks and Ting Wong, while Linette Chua finished all square in her match against Amy Hasenoehri.
Play concluded with a 3-2-1 setback to the Portland State Vikings. Individual wins on the match came from Addicks, 4&2 over Jasmine Cabajar, and Ting Wong, 3&2 over Valerie Hernandez.
Next up for Seattle U is their lone home tournament of the year, the Pat Lesser Harbottle invitational, on Oct. 10-11 at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
