SEATTLE - (Sept. 28) Following an eight-match road trip that sent Seattle University (7-8, 0-2 WAC) volleyball to Florida, New York, New Mexico and Texas, the Redhawks are back home in the Connolly Complex this week, hosting Western Athletic Conference rivals UMKC and Chicago State. First serve Thursday against the Roos is scheduled for 7 p.m. while Saturday’s match against the Cougars is set for 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
• Seattle U opened Western Athletic Conference play with arguably the toughest road trip in league action. The Redhawks dropped a thrilling 3-2 battle at preseason favorite New Mexico State and a 3-1 final at UTRGV.
• The Redhawks lead the WAC in handful of statistical categories. Matea Mamic is the league leader in kills per set (3.84) and Katarina Marinkovic leads the way with 0.37 aces per set. As a team, SU is also first in service aces with 1.42 per set.
Iris Ivanis is averaging 4.43 dps while Maja Stojanovic averages 1.09 blocks per set and Kory White is not far behind with 0.93 bps.
• The Redhawks went 2-1 at the Rutgers Invitational Sept. 15-16 to wrap up non-conference play. They took straight-set victories from Seton Hall and the host Scarlet Knights. The win over Rutgers marked the program’s first-ever win against the Big Ten opponent.
Matea Mamic earned her second All-Tournament selection of the season at the Rutgers Invite. Shae Harris was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
Matea Mamic and Maja Stojanovic were named to the All-Tournament Team of the Ultra Ankle Challenge, hosted by Oregon State.
• Seattle U was selected third in the 2016 Western Athletic Conference preseason poll.
• 2015 All-WAC selection Matea Mamic was voted to the 14-member Preseason All-WAC Team.
• Head Coach James Finley enters his fourth year at the helm of the program. Under Finley in 2015, the Redhawks had their best season yet, going 18-11 overall and 9-5 in WAC play.
• SU returns seven letterwinners, including four starters.
• The 2016 SU roster has true international flavor as six different countries are represented on the 14-member squad. That includes the United State (five different states), Canada (three different provinces), Serbia, Croatia and Peru.

ABOUT THE ROOS (8-6, 1-0 WAC)
UMKC has four players that have 125+ kills this season. Freshman Alicia Harrington leads the ’Roos by a narrow margin with 136 kills, while Devan Porter has tallied 135, Emma Hagedorn has recorded 133, and Madison Mosier has notched 126. Hagedorn currently leads the team with a .423 hitting percentage, and also has a team-best 43 total blocks (35 block assists, 8 solo blocks). Senior Kaylyn Brandt leads UMKC with 511 assists, and Brianna Starr has recorded a team-high 170 digs.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UMKC
Seattle U is 4-4 all-time against the Roos. The Redhawks won both matches during the regular-season but dropped the third meeting, 3-2, in the first round of the WAC Championship Tournament.

ABOUT THE COUGARS (2-13, 0-1 WAC)
Chicago State enters the week with a 2-13 overall record and 0-1 mark in WAC play. They opened league action last week with a 3-0 setback versus UMKC. The Cougars will face Utah Valley on Thursday night before making the trip to Seattle on Saturday. Dzeni Hadzisehovic leads Chicago State with 2.75 kps while Juma Armando adds 2.13 kps. The Cougars hit at a .089 average while opponents hold a .231 attack percentage.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CHICAGO STATE
Seattle U is a perfect 6-0 against the Cougars. The Redhawks swept the home-and-home series last fall with a 3-1 victory in Chicago and a 3-2 thriller in Seattle.
