AURORA, Ore. – (Sept. 27) Behind top 10 individual finishes from sophomores Linette Chua and Yen Ting Wong, Seattle University women’s golf placed fourth overall at the Rose City Collegiate hosted by Portland State at the Langdon Farms Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.

The Redhawks were just 12 strokes back from the tournament leader Oregon State, shooting 297-295-296 for a three-round total of 888.

“With the amazing finishes from our freshmen and sophomores this week I can’t help but feel excited about our future,” said SU Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “I’m also very confident that our juniors and seniors will find their games and be ready to make a push towards accomplishing some great things this year.”

Chua opened play with a one-under 71 in the first round Monday. She followed with an even par 72 in the second round and a 74 in the third and final round for a total score of 215, finishing in a tie for fifth.

Wong lowered her score each of the three rounds, shooting 72-74-72 for a three-round total of 220. The sophomore dropped from a tie for 16th after the first round, to finishing tied for eighth overall.

Jamie Huo was Seattle U’s third best finisher, placing tied for 17th with a three-round total of 223.

The Redhawks are back in action Oct. 1-3 at the Gonzaga Bulldogs Match Play Championship at the Manito Country Club.
